Ever wondered what happens when LEGO meets Nvidia? Chinese LEGO enthusiast Xiaosheng Li, a huge fan of Nvidia’s graphics cards, decided to turn his passion into something truly jaw-dropping, a life-sized LEGO replica of the GeForce GTX 690.
The Build: LEGO Meets the GeForce GTX 690
In an ambitious project that spanned three months, Xiaosheng meticulously constructed a six-foot-long, two-foot-wide Nvidia GTX 690 graphics card entirely out of LEGO bricks.
Build Details
- Bricks Used: 11,396 LEGO bricks
- Dimensions: 175 cm x 65 cm (69” x 25.5”)
- Build Time: 3 months
- Cost: ¥10,000 (approx. AUD $2,500 / USD $1,640)
- Software Used: Microsoft Excel (initial planning), LEGO Digital Designer (3D modelling)
Xiaosheng used LEGO Digital Designer to create a precise blueprint that even calculated the exact number and type of LEGO pieces required.
Why Build a LEGO GTX 690?
The inspiration came after seeing a LEGO version of the AMD Radeon HD 7970, which Li felt looked “rough and ugly.” Determined to outdo it, he chose the sleek and powerful GTX 690, one of Nvidia’s flagship cards.
Does It Work Like a Real Graphics Card?
Not exactly. While this LEGO creation won’t power your PC or run any games, it does include a functional LEGO-built fan that adds an impressive level of realism to the model.
